Welcome to the homepage for the 2023 Northern Plains Weather Workshop, sponsored by the Department of Atmospheric and Hydrologic Sciences (AHS) at St. Cloud State University and the St. Cloud Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.
We want this conference to be an opportunity for meteorologists, practitioners, and enthusiasts in the public-sector, private-sector, academic, broadcast, and emergency-management communities to collaborate and share research and ideas, so we welcome presentations from all sectors of meteorology, hydrology, and emergency management.
SCSU is first and foremost a teaching university, and we exemplify our student-centered focus by giving students as many opportunities to present as possible. As such, we especially welcome presentations from both graduate and undergraduate students at any college or university.
A formal call for papers has been posted here for your reference. Abstracts for presentations are due by 27 October 2023. There is no abstract submission fee. Please email your abstract to ahs@stcloudstate.edu with "NPWW Abstract" in your subject line. Talks will likely be 30 minutes each, including time for questions.
Call For PapersRegistration for the 2023 NPWW is open, though the method is slightly different this year. Registration fee is $130 ($25 for students). Parking/Campus MapSince the event will be held on campus, your choice of hotel is up to you. We have a few recommendations for St. Cloud hotels based on past experience here:
A list of recommended local restaurants and nightlife spots has been updated by our AMS student club and will be included with your registration packet. No one knows more about the local food and watering holes than our students!
There will be a banquet luncheon on Wednesday in Atwood Memorial Center. Costs for the banquet are included in your registration.
At this time, we are not planning a poster session; however, if you're interested in presenting a poster, contact us using the email below.
